Full Moon, Blue Moon, Neil’s Moon!

“Here’s to you, Neil Armstrong!”

On the day of his burial, the moon was at its fullest. A “blue moon,” the second for this month of August, 2012. I captured this image and as I processed it, I found myself wondering what it must have been like traveling in cramped quarters from the Earth to the Moon. There must have been some sense of wondering if they would return alive, or even return at all from this mission. Yet, three brave American souls named Neil, Buzz, and Michael voyaged into the unknown to our nearest celestial neighbor. It was one of mankind’s most daring adventures and its success elevated several generations of people the world over.

“Goodnight, and God Bless….” is all we can say now to a fallen hero.
