Close-up of the Pilot Mountain Knob at Sunset Remixed

This is really a composite of three different images along with some creative painting. This is the kind of image I had been hoping to capture at sunset when my wife and I were over there (see the image at the real image here).

At what point does photography cross into the realm of painting? A time-honored technique of the old film photographers was the insertion of perfect moonshots into scenes and other such slight of hand. Compositing existed long before Photoshop (even though, admittedly, PS makes it a lot simpler to do). I decided to post this because it was so successful and definitely has a realistic feel to it. Creative Photoshopping has its benefits sometimes.
